Overview |
Intellectual property is a major economic issue for both creators and innovators and for the national economy.
Interactions between intellectual property (IP) and innovation are ongoing and underpin the creation of value for business.
IP is circulated within large groups, but also within new organisations: smaller businesses, universities and research centres, economic leadership and technological development structures (RDT, CCI). This shift is accompanied by a diversification of the professions that are affected: a natural concern of lawyers and engineers, IP now concerns sales and management profiles, and it increasingly involves management in determining corporate strategy.
In this context, the creation of the IEEPI reflects the desire to provide the country with a powerful training facility dedicated to the economic and strategic aspects of intellectual property.
The main aims of the institute are:
-
to promote the management of intellectual property within companies, particularly smaller businesses, by improving the knowledge and understanding of the associated economic issues,
-
to offer businesses and research centres ongoing training modules devoted to IP, particularly its managerial and strategic aspects.
Finally, the presence of the IEEPI alongside the CEIPI should, through the development of a fertile educational and technical collaboration between the two establishments, allow a European excellence cluster to emerge in Strasbourg that is unique in its dedication to the themes of innovation and intellectual property.
